Apple shares true story video on how Apple Watch helped rescue an injured cyclist

From time to time, Apple shares real-life stories of users who received potentially life-saving help from the Apple Watch’s safety features.

Latest Update

It also comes after Apple launched the “Thankfully, I was wearing it” campaign in China earlier this year, featuring three users who shared how Fall Detection, Crash Detection, and heart rate alerts helped them during emergencies.

Apple showcases Apple Watch safety features

Today, the company published a new video recounting how Fall Detection and Emergency SOS helped rescue an injured cyclist. You can watch it below.

In a new video published on its YouTube channel, Apple highlights the story of Phil, who was left unconscious after crashing his mountain bike while riding with his kids.

In the Apple-commissioned video, Phil says he “misjudged” his takeoff, breaking his collarbone and seven ribs in the crash. The impact knocked him unconscious, but his Apple Watch automatically called emergency services and shared his location, allowing firefighters to find him and take him to the hospital, where he spent a week recovering.

Today’s video comes nearly one year after Apple aired a longer segment during its October 2025 “Awe Dropping” event, featuring several Apple Watch users who shared how the device helped them through medical emergencies, accidents, and other life-threatening situations.
