MLB iPhone app just got better with new CarPlay and Live Activity features

The official MLB app for iPhone is rolling out a useful update for fans who want to follow more games. Both the CarPlay app and Live Activity experience has improved in a few ways.

Why It Matters

To get started, open Gameday for a matchup and tap the new Track button in the header. The game will then appear on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

Previously, the feature was limited to a user’s favorite team.

How It Works

Fans can browse live and upcoming games, select a matchup, and choose their preferred team’s radio feed. CarPlay will show the score and key game details while the broadcast plays, with the app’s hide-scores setting still respected for anyone avoiding spoilers. CarPlay in iOS 26 and later can also display iPhone widgets. Earlier this summer, MLB expanded its widget for live scores on iPhone and iPad.
